Awaiting Approval

After it's officially approved, I will add a layer of epoxy for that shiny, luxe finish.

Progress

I drafted up a thumbnail and a palette study for my current commission and many changes were made after speaking with my client. We decided to nix the gold and magenta and keep things simple: grays, lavenders, whites and a tiny bit of blue were favored. My painting surfaces were delivered to my studio shortly after, so I was happily able to get an earlier start than I had planned. Here is the progress I have made. I'm laughing now at how unlike the sketches the paintings have turned out to be. Not in a bad way, of course.

Commission Journey

My fantastic art rep and kickass decorator, Christian Nelius of Anno Domini Memphis, recently commissioned a diptych from me for a room she's designing for her clients. This will be an exciting one for me- creating two pieces to go side by side, keeping the color palette minimal with aquas, grays, lavenders, gold, magenta, and chartreuse, and applying a glossy surface on top for that glam luxe factor.

I'm going to look to Flemish and Renaissance portrait paintings for inspiration and research new and exciting patterns.

I plan to create some thumbnails, sketches, and color studies tonight and will post updates of my journey as things progress. Stay tuned, m'dears!
