Riverblood Magazine

I'm very excited about this one. Artist Brittany Vega (whose work is pretty rad; go look at it) is starting up an arts publication called Riverblood Magazine, which will feature artists of the Mid-South and I'm honored to be featured in the first issue coming out in December.

There will a short feature about me and my work and I also plan on submitting a little "day-in-the-life" journal entry to take readers through my studio practice (or lack thereof at the moment) but I promise to try and make it interesting.

We are in the process of moving into our first house, which means a new studio space for me. Once things settle down, I will be back in action. I have some shows coming up but haven't quite gotten back into my old routine or made any new paintings. Anyway, I'll keep you posted.

Fail Friday: No Motivation

"I haven't painted in over three weeks. I just come home from my day job and crash on the sofa surrounded by piles of things I need to clean and pack for our move next week. I feel like a failure for not making the balance work. I can only imagine how hard it will be to manage everything I want to accomplish after I become a parent."

A Work in its New Habitat

Room decorated by Amy Howard

I am loving this room's color palette and the way the pinks work with the blue patterned wallpaper and those pillows. I never got to meet the clients or the designer of the space, but I am thrilled that they chose my work to hang in this room for their children. I hope it brings them great joy.

Big News

"Meet Quincy Velociraptor Quick (real name to be announced in a few months), our latest and greatest collaboration! Due April 2016" -Eric Quick
smile emoticon
So I'm 12 weeks along now and we heard the little heartbeat yesterday at the doctor's office. This is why I've been a little MIA recently. I have had a pretty easy pregnancy so far. Very little nausea, but lots of fatigue. Growing a little baby is hard work! But I'm told my energy will return very soon and then I'll be back in the studio! Keep checking in for updates.

UPDATE:

Here is "Quincy" now!

Very Different Commission

Here is something I made a few days ago to put some color in a client's dining room. The budget was extremely limited and the size of the piece needed to be large, so high labor costs were out of the question. I hardly ever work this way. I'm very meticulous and detail oriented, so it was nice to play with a surface like this and work more quickly than I'm used to.
