Calls to Artists: February 2015

The Germantown Performing Arts Center (GPAC) is accepting submissions for the exhibition Jazz: Visual Vibe. The exhibition will be on view during the month of March in conjunction with several jazz programs that will occur throughout the month at GPAC. Both 2D and 3D works will be accepted into the show. All submitted pieces must be about, pay tribute, and/or bring attention to jazz as an art form and its rich history. The Downtown Memphis Commission (DMC) is seeking artists to submit designs to update the artwork on Main Street's utility shacks. The DMC will reimburse artists up to $700 for materials. The Memphis Cook Convention Center and Cannon Center for the Performing Arts will be hosting an exhibition spotlighting current students and recent graduates (2009–2014) of Memphis College of Art in conjunction with Memphis in May. Specifically, we are seeking art that introduces Memphis to an outsider and says “Welcome to Memphis.” Artwork depicting Memphis, its attractions, personalities, idiosyncrasies, etc. will be given preference, but all work involving or is inspired by Memphis is welcome and considered for exhibition. The Tennessee Clean Water Network (TCWN), in collaboration with the Knoxville Public Art Committee and the City of Knoxville, is seeking proposals for original, two-dimensional designs to be printed and wrapped on outdoor water bottle refill stations as part of the Bringing Tap Back Project. Bringing Tap Back is a statewide initiative paid to raise awareness of the importance of drinking water by providing free and accessible water bottle refill stations in public spaces.
