Excerpt- A Little Taste of "The Terra Codex"

I promised you a bit of how the book Eric and I are writing is going so far. We're well into the interesting bits, about 33,000 words in. We've settled on a title. "The Terra Codex."

This is part of the boring introductory stuff and serves in setting up the character, Eloise while she spends time with her boyfriend on an ordinary day. This little part seemed appropriate as content on an art blog goes. Enjoy:

She nuzzled his cheek with her nose and stared at his somber eyes. She loved those eyes. She loved the variations of blue there, rich phtalos, swirling teals, and arbitrary gold flecks. Since they’d been together, her color palettes had noticeably shifted to mimic those eyes.
On the easel, the painting sat, powerful and dominant in spite of its smallness. Spirals of pastel greens and blues mingled with gentle strokes of teal broken apart by grasping vine shapes that Eloise had to admit did resemble the limbs of a sea creature. The surface was flat, dimensionless, but within each shape and especially in the areas of shifting lights and darks, was an undeniable depth. In the foreground were the slightest touches of gold, flecked out among muted greens.
She beamed triumphantly, inwardly congratulating herself on capturing Nathan’s eyes so perfectly.
