In Progress "Petrichor" Acrylic on Canvas 36"x48" 2013
Petrichor (/ˈpɛtrɨkər/ or /ˈpɛtrɨkɔər/) is the scent of rain on dry earth, or the scent of dust after rain. I have had a dry spell in the production of my paintings. I feel like I've become too comfortable and so I wanted to try something new and minimal and halt my inclination to cover a piece all over. This one is still in progress, but I like where it is going. The only changes I'm thinking about making are adding more dots, but just on top of the existing ones. I want to leave the area of negative space as it is.
I am so excited to announce another solo exhibition of mine that is on display right now-Decorators. Photos to come. My reception will take place in conjunction with the Horn Island 29, a collective of works by MCA students, faculty, and alumni based on their 8-day camping excursion to a deserted island. So if you're into oceanic visuals, you will not be let down. Come check us out for the opening reception September 7th.
Hello there. I'm super busy preparing some nice little paintings to sell at my RAW showcase on August 23rd. That is assuming I can sell enough tickets to actually have my RAW showcase. If you have been wanting to buy, now is the time to do it. Click on this link to go to my RAW Artist Profile to purchase a ticket: http://www.rawartists.org/chloeyork. I will be selling watercolors for 10 bucks, small paintings on canvas for 20, and at least one of my Decorators will be on sale as well. There will be many talented artists there, ranging from visual artists to performers and musicians. Hope to see you there!
Just cranked these out today. I'm working on some little paintings to sell during my RAWartist showcase. Ten dollars each, matted and everything. I'm working on some larger ones that will sell for fifteen.
