There's this great little shop back in my hometown that I just fell in love with so when I heard they were open to selling original art among their fantastic merch, I took the plunge and contacted them with images of my work. I'm stoked to report that my efforts were fruitful and I get to put a couple of paintings in there to display and sell!! This is Twisted Willow. If you're ever in Paducah, go check them out. Here's their website: http://www.twistedwillow209.com/ Enjoy, my dears.

I wish I had more details about this, but it looks like "The Decorator" will be featured in an advertorial for Memphis College of Art in the American Artist Magazine September issue!! Be on the lookout, my dears.

Life is oh so full of pleasant surprises!

I recently completed this one, a small piece inspired by "The Decorator III." I am okay with recreating my paintings as long as they aren't obvious direct copies. While this one shares undeniable similarities with "The Decorator III" I still view it as an original piece and none of my other paintings will look exactly like it. Hence its title, "The Decorator VII."

I've been painting a lot today. I pretty much finished breakfast, turned on my guilty pleasure, "American Dad," set the easel up and went right to work. One piece I finished was a commission I had been working on, another was a third installment of the "Subterrain" series, then I added more circles to this one:

I wanted to try leaving lots of empty space, while maintaining my aesthetic of repeated multiple details. While I enjoyed the red, white, and blue with some neutral tones thrown in, I felt like the large circular forms needed more interest and that's where the yellow came in. I like how the little white circles create a new form against the teal and seem to hold up the red coral shapes.

I am now an official graduate of the Memphis College of Art! Commencement occurred on Saturday and at the same time, I was getting all moved in to a not-so new place, converting my bedroom into a studio (images to come), and being stoked to finally be done with school. Perhaps for forever... This is the only photo I have from the event so far. That's me (on the left) with my good friend, Evan Leggoe who graduated back in December, but came back to do the whole commencement thing. You'd like her work.
I hope to find the time to complete more paintings and look around for a steady teaching job, but no matter what, I'll be sure to keep you posted.

The Dixon Gallery and Gardens is hosting a fundraising event called Art on Fire this October to help their outstanding educational programs and I was asked to donate a piece to be auctioned off at said event. I'm so excited for this opportunity to give back to the community with my work. Because I have been selling/giving away so many paintings, I have been working hard to make a new series so that I can start applying to more galleries, and I decided to donate this bad boy. I'm pretty sad to see it go, but I'm glad it's for a good cause. Note: I call this a "possible" donation because I may change my mind and decide to create a different, more accessible painting to give to the Dixon, but this is my decision for now.
Update: I dropped the piece off today, making this THE donation. I wonder how much it will end up selling for...
